Reconstructive Shoulder and Knee Surgery

Before performing reconstructive shoulder or knee surgery, a surgeon usually examines the joint through arthroscopic surgery to determine the right medical procedures that need to be taken. When the joint is severely damaged by arthritis or injury, total replacement might be an option.

During this surgery, the damaged parts of the joint are taken out and replaced with artificial components, known as prosthesis. This will help with the performance of everyday task and relieve constant pain.

After surgery, you will either be coming out wearing a sling or on crutches for knee replacement. It is important that you follow through with physical therapy to increase flexibility and strength of the injured area, and aid in a quicker recovery. Know that you will be limited for several weeks on what you are able to do, depending on the extent of your surgery.
